Steamboat Snowmobile Rental FAQ

How much does a snowmobile rental cost in Steamboat Springs?
Entry-Level and All-Around sleds start from $360.40 per day and Mountain Performance sleds from $545.90 per day, plus tax. Tax is added at checkout. Longer rentals cost a little less per day; for example, an Entry-Level sled is $1,738.40 for 5 days.
Do I need a trailer to rent a snowmobile in Steamboat?
Not if you add delivery. Rentals are not ride-from-shop, so you can bring a vehicle that can tow, rent a 2, 3 or 4-place CSR trailer after booking your sled, or add sled delivery to the Columbine Trailhead for $106. With delivery, you check in at the shop, then Colorado Sled Rentals brings your sled to the trailhead fueled and ready and picks it up when you're done.
Can I go with a guide instead?
Yes. Private guided backcountry adventures start from $439.90 per person, need no trailer, and include shuttle service to the trailhead. No experience is needed for the Beginner trip.
Can beginners rent a snowmobile without a guide?
Unguided rentals are for riders who already know how to operate a snowmobile, tow and load a trailer, handle basic mechanical issues, and carry backcountry tools, an emergency kit and first aid. If no one in your group has that experience, Colorado Sled Rentals recommends a private guided trip first.
How old do you need to be to rent a snowmobile?
You must be 18 or older to rent. Drivers must be 16 or older with a valid driver's license or learner's permit, and every operator signs a waiver.
What happens if there isn't enough snow?
If snow conditions keep Colorado Sled Rentals from operating, you get a full refund, with or without Cancellation Insurance.
