Steamboat Snow Forecast

Current Conditions

(As of November 2025)

Snowfall Update:
The Steamboat Springs region is off to its winter season with good promise. While we’re early in the season, forecasts are favorable for the 2024-25/2025-26 winter: a developing weak La Niña pattern may bring above-average snowfall to northwest Colorado. Historically, Steamboat benefits strongly in early-season coverage — it averages about 93% terrain open by December 25.
For our needs at Colorado Sled Rentals, that’s great news: as trails build up, both guided snowmobile tours and snowmobile rentals will be supported by stronger base conditions.

WHERE TO RIDE

Although there are plenty of snowmobile trails in the area (many of which lead to the base of Rabbit Ears Peak to the east), there’s a gorgeous, 4-mile-long road that stretches from Dumont Lake to the Rabbit Ears, the summit rock formation from which the pass gets its name.

Take in gorgeous views of the Continental Divide, Rabbit Ears Peak, rivers, meadows, and more while you explore this relatively relaxed snowmobile trail system. In addition to snowmobiling, visitors can bike, camp, fish, and hike in the summertime and snowmobile, cross-country ski and snowshoe in the winter.
